  Meet EAPL's mascot Thesaurus Rex

You might have seen his antics on social media or around the library. Help us create cool library swag featuring Thesaurus Rex. 2021's Dino Design Contest theme is Thesaurus Rex Goes to the Library. Using this theme, create a digital or non-digital design celebrating Thesaurus Rex and the Easton Area Public Library.

Dino Design is open to all ages! The Dino Design Contest opens September 1. Final designs are due Saturday, October 16. For full contest details visit: https://eastonpl.org/DinoContest.html  
 
  Create-A-Scarecrow Contest (Main and Palmer)

For ages 3 and up! Families may also enter as a team

Head to the Main Library or Palmer branch to pick up your Create-A-Scarecrow Bag. Prizes will be awarded for a variety of categories! Bags may be picked up starting on September 1. All creations are to be returned to the Main Library or Palmer branch no later than September 17. Voting will take place at each library from September 21-28. Winners will be announced September 30. The next contest takes place in November and will be announced in October!

Bags can be picked up on the contest start date indicated above. All entries must be returned to either library no later than the end date indicated above. Voting will take place at the library of choice the last week of the month. If you have any questions, please email jennifere@eastonpl.org

  Read to a Dog at the Library (Main)

For all ages, with an adult. Masks required.

Tuesdays 10:30-11:30am at the Main Library.
Sept. 14 & 28, Oct. 12 & 26, Nov. 9 & Dec. 14
 
Come to the Main Library and read to a certified Dog Therapy International canine! Although we encourage children to read in this program, they may also show the dog pictures from a book or simply pet them. Janet Grube, a trained professional handler, will accompany the dog. No registration required. Participation is on first-come basis.
 
  Storytime at Main (Main)

For all ages with an adult

Wednesdays, September 2021 through February 2022
10:30 am at the Main Library. Masks required.

Join us in person at the main library for a fun, interactive time of stories, songs and rhymes. Following the program, you’re welcome to stop by the Youth Services (YS) desk and pick up a craft to take home! Please register in person at the YS desk or email jennifere@eastopl.org
 
 
  Picture This! (Main)

For all ages.
Submissions start September 1 and continue through November 5. Artwork will be displayed as it arrives until the end of December.

Get creative with Picture This and submit a drawing to display in the library! Drop off your artwork (2-D only) at the Youth Services desk or email it to kateb@eastonpl.org  With your consent, your art could also be displayed on social media! All participants will be given a prize. Please pick up your artwork after the exhibition ends, or by Jan 15.
 
 
Create a Library Card Lanyard (Main)

For all ages, through September or until supplies last.

Stop by the Youth Services desk anytime during September (the official Library Card Sign Up Month) and pick up a kit to create your very own lanyard. Once completed, proudly display your library card on the lanyard! Supplies are limited and available on first-come, first-serve basis.
 
 
  Storytime on Zoom (Virtual)

For ages 2 and up

Mondays, Sept. 27, Oct. 25, Nov. 29, Jan. 31, Feb. 28
10:30-11:00 am – virtually via Zoom

Join us for a virtual storytime from the comfort of your own home. Together we will build your child’s literacy skills by reading picture books and singing old-time favorites. Then, stop by the library (Main or Palmer) to pick up a themed craft to complete at home (available the week of the program).   D.I.Y. Storytime (Main and Palmer)


For ages 2-5, with an adult

Main Library – Tuesdays, 10:30-11:30, Sept 7 & 21

Palmer Branch – Thursdays, 10:30-11:30, Sept 9 & 23

Join us for a semi-monthly D.I.Y. (do-it-yourself) Storytime available at both the Main Library and at the Palmer Branch. Picture books will be available for you to read to your little ones, and themed crafts will help them make closer connections to the reading. As you will be leading the activity, please leave the space neat for another family. We hope that you enjoy this opportunity to connect and socialize with other families.

Please note: Activities will be the same at Main and Palmer. Adult supervision is required as this is a self-guided program designed to help promote socialization between young children and their caregiver. Masks are required for in-person children’s programs at the Main Library, and social distancing is encouraged at both locations.
 
 
  STEM Science Experiments (Virtual)

Ages 8-12, with assistance of an adult or guardian

Thursdays, 4:00-4:45, Sept. 16, Oct. 14, Nov. 11, Dec. 16, Jan. 13, Feb. 10

Conduct fun experiments with common household items and expand on your knowledge of the scientific world! We will provide the kits with everything needed for the experiments – the kits can be picked up starting September 8th at either the Main Library or the Palmer Branch. Registration is required and limited to 20 children – to register please email libbyo@eastonpl.org
 
 
  Storytime at the Palmer Branch! (Palmer)

Get ready for fall storytime! Contact the Palmer Branch library for our full schedule of storytimes for babies, toddlers, and preschoolers! Registration is required to attend. For more information, contact Katie Cardell at katiec@eastonpl.org or visit the library’s website and click the “Palmer” tab.

Grab and Go Bags from the Main Library!

Stop by the Main Library for Grab and Go Bags for kids. There are new themes each week, with fun crafts to enjoy together as a family. See Youth Services for more details.
Designed for ages 2-7. Each Grab and Go Bag includes a booklist, supplies for the project, and other fun ideas!
