Matthew DeMaio's - Anthropology of the City course projects by students
The following link are projects produced by Lafayette College students as part of Matthew DeMaio's Anthropology of the City course. The students were tasked with choosing a specific space in Easton and conducting multimodal and mixed methods research on that space. These methods included ethnographic observation, mapping, analytical writing and archival research. Students then combined these forms of data and analysis in a program called ArcGIS StoryMaps, which enabled them to combine visual, spatial, ethnographic and archival data. The course includes a class trip to the Marx Reading Room to explore the local history archives and many students included material from Marx Room in their final project.
