Friends of the Library

The Friends are a group of library users who appreciate libraries and what they bring to communities for adults, teens and children. We contribute our time and money to support the Library and its programs.

How Do We Help?
Traditionally the Friends:
  • Raise funds to provide extra items not in the library budget, as well as for special events
  • Collect, sort and sell the books and media at the Library’s semi-annual Book Sales
  • Plan events for the library – cultural, educational, crafts, and entertainment
  • Enrich the Children’s Summer Reading Program with shows and materials
  • Provide and serve refreshments at library events
Major past contributions include funding:
  • the building of the Marx Local History Room the restoration of the Paxinosa Inn
  • painting
  • the conservation of the oil portrait of Easton resident and signer of the Declaration of Independence, George Taylor
  • the conservation and framing of the Penn Patent  donated by the Knights Templar
What More Would We Like To Do?
We're looking to add projects, such as:
  • Broadening outreach to patrons through the internet
  • Bringing successful industry marketing and computer-based techniques to increase the effectiveness of library communications
  • Increasing book donations for sales
  • Building a closer working relationship with the Easton community
  • Providing a steady citizen advocacy for the library with local and state officials
But we'll need your Help!
What Can You Do?
  • Become a Member today. Choose from several levels of membership support
  • Make an additional cash contribution
  • Volunteer your time for jobs you enjoy and/or to which you’ll bring experience and knowledge
  • Become a member of the Friends Planning Group, which meets monthly. It’s open to any Friend who wants to become more involved, just come, you don’t need an invitation...
How Will You Benefit:
  • Have an even stronger, more active library with its many useful resources, for you and your family
  • Receive the Library newsletter, Ex-Libris, by mail
  • Attend the Friends-only Preview of the book sales, for first choice of books
  • Be notified of all library events by e-mail
  • Have the satisfaction of giving back to the community
  • Meet other nice book-lovers
