The Library gladly accepts books and media all year round. Below are some frequently asked questions about donations:

What items does the Library accept?

·         Fiction or non-fiction – current or past – hardcover or paperback.

·         Children’s and young adult books

·         Textbooks less than 5 years old

·         Foreign language books

·         Audio books on  CD or cassette

·         Movies, documentaries, TV series, fitness, and children’s programs - DVD or VHS

·         Music or instructional or children’s CDs

·         Music instruction books and sheet music

What items can’t the Library use?

·         Encyclopedias

·         Old textbooks

·         Magazines

·         Books in poor condition: musty, moldy, or water-damaged; torn, loose, or missing pages; broken binding

How does the Library use my donation?

“Like new” items often become part of the Library’s adult or children’s circulating collections. Other items are sold, either privately or at our semi-annual book sales. The two sales in 2009 netted over $10,000 for the Library.

Can I get a tax receipt?

You may request a receipt. The Library will acknowledge your donation but cannot place a value on it. Please count the number and type of items you are donating.

Where should I take my donation?

You may leave small quantities in the barrel near the Circulation Desk at the Main Library. For large amounts, call Mary Ann at 610-258-2917 ext. 393 to schedule a drop-off time or to arrange for assistance if needed.
